Harmony Day is celebrated annually on March 21st in Australia. Harmony Day began in 1999, coinciding with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Each year, it is marked by people coming together and participating in local activities.
UPDATE MACS Inc., in collaboration with CALD communities and other local organisations, has decided to hold a small vigil to honour victims of Christchurch.
Seems fitting when you look at the origin of Harmony Day from Sharpesville, South Africa to Christchurch, NZ. We need to stand together to condemn violent acts of racism and terror.
We will hold a vigil followed by lunch and a celebration of unity fashion show. Please contact us if you would like to contribute to the ceremonies. [email protected]
Lunch will be catered for by a group of local women from varying cultures, offering an authentic cultural food experience for all who attend.
Come join us and help us celebrate Harmony Day, Champion Cultural Diversity & promote an all inclusive and unified world.
